The Rector, the Coaching team, the First Rugby squad, and the Proud Men and Community of Grey High School.
Congratulations on your recent successful annual derby weekend against Wynberg Boys in Cape Town. I hope everyone arrived home safely and enjoyed their tour.
I was filled with immense pride on Saturday afternoon as I watched the first team play against Wynberg. Competing away from home, in the midst of a large (mostly Wynberg) crowd, you exhibited the highest levels of courage and determination. The spirit of the Grey was brilliantly showcased through your performance, culminating in a hard-fought 10-10 draw.
Such an outcome not only demonstrates your resolute skill and tenacity but also your character and the deep-seated resolve that defines our beloved school.
To regroup, pull back and convert a try in such fashion to draw level in the final few minutes surely required a herculean level of effort, ‘big match temperament’ and purpose that transcends 22 players on a field and meant much more to so many.
Each player, guided by the wisdom of our coach and the strategic oversight of our Rector, played with unwavering grit and unity. This draw is a testament to your dedication to the game and to each other, reflecting the true essence of sportsmanship and the enduring spirit of the Grey.
May this valiant display serve as an inspiration to the broader school community, reminding us all of the strength we possess when we stand together, united by our shared values and goals. Congratulations once again on showcasing such commendable grit and determination.
With warm regards and continued support,
Sincerely
