Open to school students between the ages of 15 and 19. Do volunteer work within the Tibetan exile community in Dharamsala, India.
Community
Dharamsala is small village is situated at the foothills of the Indian Himalayas and is home to His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, and the Tibetan exile community. They have been living in Dharamsala peacefully and campaigning for a Free Tibet since 1959. The Dalai Lama and about 90 000 Tibetans evacuated Tibet 60 years ago, after Chinese occupation.
Streetschool Journeys offer students a unique opportunity to learn about an ancient culture and interact with monks, lamas and other Tibetans. This journey will force you to re-evaluate your priorities, meaning, and purpose.
